gasp!

Gasp!  If this is even 50% accurate, it would explain why church people aren’t taken seriously by the world.  Frankly, it’s not even remotely funny.  It’s more along the line of being disgusting and nauseating.  I broke out in a cold sweat while watching this video the first time.  Obviously, it’s to poke fun, but it’s too real to blow off as theatrical.  And, if we just don’t care if we’re taken seriously or not, then we should just continue on with this odd gibberish.

I told the guy who sent me the link, “We did this to our kids.  Somehow our religious nonsense encouraged this kind of religious head speak.”  This is not normal.  Normal people do not talk in that fashion.  We probably need to get a grip.  A serious grip.

I’m sorry for my part.

Funny and also evidence that we Christians spend a lot of time trying to follow all these unspoken rules that don’t matter. We only end up irrelevant and weird. :). Thanks for sharing!

I agree with you. Maybe while we are in the middle of our Jesus speak, we don’t realize just how ridiculous we sound, but watching that I was really disheartened at the reality. We just need to be real and show people relationship with Jesus is real.

    :-/ Miss you guys. Kristen

Mike, this was entertaining and true. I must say, i have never heard any of these slogans from your lips, or in your writing.

I thought it interesting that none of the slogans or headlines include the notion of hope or salvation.
Many of these slogans seem to focus on process not content. Maybe that is the opportunity to get above all the slogans or headlines.

It strikes me that these buzz phrases sound much like the consultant speak i used to hear in the business world.

Sadly too accurate. It’s a lot easier to talk in catch phrases than to be simply who we really are since that person probably doesn’t conform to all the religious rules we hold so dear. And usually we don’t even realize it. I’ve certainly been guilty.

In my “saved” honeymoon stage….which lasted YEARS…I religious-righteously did exactly this. I agree…disturbing and disgusting. Religion fails people and God is blamed. God, truly and intimately knowing Him, knowing His Word, His Son will nauseate you when these statements rise up in your spirit and if it doesn’t. …time to get a check up. Been to the spiritual exam table numerous times. …may need at toll pass! Love you two so much and am thankful!
